Drive-by Optog (Stationary Flag Parade)

  • 33rd St. (Meetings ONLY) Astoria, OR, 97103 United States (map)

The Danish Society will be participating in a stationary flag parade by bringing Danish flags and dressing in costume or other Nordic-themed wear. The event will line up along the sidewalks on Marine Drive at the Columbia River Maritime Museum. We will wave flags as cars pass by, a great way to raise awareness of the Midsummer Festival and Nordic heritage in the lower Columbia River region. You never know what the weather will be doing, so check the forecast and dress appropriately. Just look for the Danish flags and come join us for

We are still observing COVID-19 health precautions. Out of respect for the health and welfare of our fellow citizens, please follow whatever the Oregon Governor’s guidance is for mask-wearing and social distancing at the time of the Optog - currently that guidance is that vaccinated persons, if they feel comfortable, do not need to wear masks or socially distance if they are outdoors and not in an exceptionally crowded venue.

NOTE REGARDING PARKING - the Museum respectfully requests we do NOT park in the Museum lots as this is their busy season and the lots are needed for museum visitors. Free public parking can be found on in town on the other side of Marine Drive, so if you are physically able to walk, then park in town and walk to the Optog location.
