October Meeting - Learn to Make a Kransekage !

  • Peace First Lutheran Church - Uppertown (for in-person meetings) 725 33rd Street Astoria, OR, 97103 United States (map)

Our Vice President (and occasional baker) Jen Zamon will demonstrate how to make a Kranekage. This “showstopper” dessert is a classic at Danish and Danish-American celebrations and Jen says it may be easier to make than you think! A tradition and techniques passed to us from the families of our President Marie Yost and member (and bona fide pastry chef Kathleen McCormack), it is quickly becoming a favorite special dessert to make.

We’ll have dough ready so you can learn to the “ropes” (how to roll the dough needed to make the layers) and pre-baked rings will be available for you to see learn how the icing and stacking of rings is done. Of course, this will serve as refreshment at the meeting so everyone can have a good taste!

Several of our experienced bakers will be there to help answer questions you may have.

Annotated recipes with pictures and instructions will be available to anyone who would like one. We’ll even try to get a PDF link posted to our website when we can figure out how to do that!
